Star Student

Drew is Star Student for his class this week. That means that they will spend the week learning all about him! We had to make this poster with pictures of him through the years and all the different places that he has been. I really would have liked to include so much more of pictures of him with different family members, etc, but the poster could only be a 1/2 poster size. Anyway, we had alot of fun putting it together. Drew was very excited. So Star Student week is off to a great start!

J.C.'s Homecoming Outfit

Well while we were at Walmart this weekend we found this really cute outfit and decided this would be a perfect for J.C. to come home in. My mom is going to get him a blanket with his name embroidered on it for him to have with him in the picture they will take at the hospital. It is a rather simple outfit but we did want something that would be not too warm since it will be nearly June when he arrives. Also we have a wedding to attend on the weekend following his birth so I am hoping we will get to use this outfit for that as well. It is a newborn size, so he will only be able to wear it for a short amount of time. I am leaving the tags on it and not washing until closer to time, just in case we realize that J.C. is going to be a really big boy, but we hope not!

Just another random blog

Well I just kinda have some things running through my head today so I thought I would share.

First, I have to say that my husband and one of the guys I work with have given me grieve over posting J.C.'s stuff on the blog! I mean come on, it is an ultrasound pic. Besides, I have to give him things to be embarrassed by one day! Isn't that our job as parents! So the pic will stay, and I will not feel guilty about it!

It has been a rather topsy tervy week for us. On Monday night I got a call from the babysitter letting me know that she was at the hospital having contractions and she was only 34 weeks at the time. So that meant relocating Drew for the next day as well as worrying over her and the baby. I am happy to report that she is home now and the contractions have stopped but she will be on bedrest for atleast the next week or so until she can get to 36 weeks. Of course this is not how she wanted to spend the remainder of her pregnancy but I feel confident that all will be good. Please lift them up in prayer right now as they deal with the inconvenience of her being put to bed. They have a 2 year old too, so that makes things even more interesting. So Drew is now spending his afternoons with another babysitter. She is the Worship Pastor's wife here at the church I work at. I am so thankful that she is able to do this for us. She has a daughter that is Drew's age and a younger one that is 1 year old and keeps another 1 year old. He is the only boy there so I think that has been a bit interesting for her. Boys are VERY different from girls. So please pray for all of us as we get through the next several weeks doing things a little different than usual.

So of course with all of that going on it has weighed heavily on my mind about me having complications with my pregnancy. I am praying so urgently that God will allow us to have a smooth pregnancy without any major things and that I can work up till delivery. I know that if that is not the case we will deal with it and all will be fine, because God controls it all anyway. But for those of you who know me well, you know that I have every detail planned out to perfection and I like to stay on plan and schedule!! Everything has been fine and good with me and little J.C. He is kicking around in there a good bit now. He has developed a pattern of being active in the mornings, a little around noon time, and again around 5-6 in the evenings. I guess maybe he likes to let me know when he is hungry! I am still anxious for the kicks to be such that Jim and Drew and feel it too. I just think that will make Drew so excited. And yet I know I may grow tired of it before the delivery day gets here. I do suspect that this guy is going to be a bit bigger than my Drew was. Drew weighed 6lbs 11oz at birth. I am REALLY hoping this one would not exceed 7 1/2 lbs, just for the fact that I am already getting uncomfortable and anything any bigger than that could make the end pretty miserable. But again God is in control and He will see to it all.

So anyway, as I titled this blog it is random! But now you know what is going on with the Mayos this week!

Preparing for J.C.'s arrival

So I have kinda had the nesting bug this past weekend. I guess since finding out that we will indeed be having a precious little boy I decided to get all the clothing out of the attic and get it washed up and ready. It was a big task but we did get it all done. It was very sentimental to look through all the clothes that Drew once wore. I was able to recall special moments or who that special person was that gave us that particular outfit. It truly is wonderful to know that all the cute things that we once dressed Drew in we will now be able to use for J.C. I have some pictures of the room to share, so enjoy!

This is a baby glider that was given to us by my sister's mother-in-law. It is really neat. It plays music and glides back and forth and also allows you to turn the seat around so it glides side to side or front to back.

This is a baby Papason seat. Also given to us by my sister's mother-in-law. We do not have a bouncer seat, so this will basically take the place of that. It vibrates and plays music. It has a really soft fabric to it, so it is really nice. It also has the blanket that attaches with velcro.

Here is just another shot of the bed. It has our bobby pillow in it now, all cleaned up and ready to go! Also a few stuffed animals that we had put up that will now be part of J.C.'s room.

This is J.C.'s Baby Book. It is not anything fancy, but I learned with Drew that having a great big book and trying to shove extra things all in it is not practical. So I decided for more of a basic book this time and we will include lots of pics in it of all the important stuff!

Here are all the clothes that we got hung up. There are two storage cabinets in the closet full of clothes too! This is mostly stuff we had with Drew and also quite a bit from my sister that was Matthew. Matthew will have his 1st birthday 2 days after J.C. is born, if all stays on schedule!

Here are the little guys shoes! He is pretty well outfitted for any occasion I think. I don't know that he will even wear these much. With him being born right at summer I expect to spend most of the time in just socks and no shoes, but we are prepared just the same.

Here are some outfits that I cannot wait to dress the little guy in! Two of these were Drew's and two were Matthew's. He will be lookin cute before we know it!

This is an elephant binkie that Drew picked out for J.C. I do not know what the technical name for these are but that is what I have always called them, and probably will continue to. He picked this out at Carter's the weekend before we found out the gender. We tried to steer him towards a neutral colored item but it did manage to be a little bit more boy than girl, but it worked out! He will bring this to J.C. at the hospital. I am sure there will be some other items added to the special big brother to little brother arrival gift.

And lastly, Drew knew I was taking pictures so he wanted his taken too. So here he is working on his train tracks. He has been building tracks all over the living room since Christmas. Most night we argue over whether or not they have to be picked up or if he can leave them down for the next days play. We give and take on that. There are some days I have to have the mess cleaned up and other that I just let it go. It will be interesting when we have an infant crawling around! There will have to be some boundaries on the train building then! For now we will let him enjoy the wide open spaces! Well that is all for now, hope you enjoy the pictures and now I am going to relax!

Ultrasound Pics

Well, here is J.C. in all his glory! As you can see he was not shy. This was the first shot we got. The ultrasound tech ask, "Well, what do you think that is?" To which I replied, "I know what that is, a boy!" We are very excited. I did think I would be disappointed over it not being a girl but I really surprised myself with how good I was about it. I am really excited about having another son. It did help that when we left the doctor's office and I called my sister that we could hear one of the girls that she babysits in the background having a total drama meltdown! I looked over at Jim and said that I was glad we would not have to deal with all the "little girl drama". I love the little girls in my life but it is nice to be able to leave them with their momma's too!!

Here are a couple of good shots of his profile. I think it looks identical to Drew's ultrasound. He looked exactly like Jim and his dad when he was born. I think this one will too. Although now Drew looks like both sides of the family in many ways. We do truly feel blessed to be having another child period but especially for being able to raise another little man. I pray that God will help us to instruct them both in a way that they will grow to bring Him honor and glory. I have claimed Lamentations 3:22-25 as J.C.'s life verse. The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. "The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I will hope in Him."

It's a Boy!

Well we had the much anticipated ultrasound appointment today. Our little one was not shy at all and immediately flashed us so we could see very clearly that he is indeed another little boy! James Christopher or "J.C." as we plan to call him, is still scheduled to arrive on May 26. He looks wonderful and completely healthy. He is weighing 13oz right now by their calculations. Drew is absolutely thrilled that he will have a little brother! I will have the ultrasound pics on here tomorrow, for now that is all!

A Peaceful Saturday

Well I felt the need to update my blog since my last post was rather well, we will say edgy! I am happy to say that my week Wednesday through Friday was absolutely fabulous and incredibly productive. I got so much done at work. This is my busy time of year with all the year end procedures for the churches accounting.

Today is a very quiet starting Saturday. Jim is at a meeting at church, Drew is watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles(yipee), and I am blogging and catching up on emails. I am actually sitting here with a stack of bibles, Sunday School books and Bible study books that I need to be putting the final touches on for Sunday but have opted to do this first. It is rainy out today and it just makes it the perfect conditions for a quiet do nothing day!

Last night Jim and Drew along with my brother-in-law and their 3 older boys all went to the Monster Truck Jam at the FedEx Forum. They had a blast, well the kids anyway. I really think that Todd and Jim secretly loved it but would NEVER admit that to us!! This was part of Drew's Christmas presents that they got to go. My sisters family had gone last year and we decided it was a perfect father/son event and that we would graciously agree to keep Matthew, their 7 month old, so that all the guys could enjoy this unique bonding experience! Sooooo, Elizabeth, mom and I had a girls night! I know some of you are thinking we planned this on purpose to have our own fun and to leave the guys with the task of going to the truck show, but remember we did have to keep the baby! We really had a great time too. We went to the nursing home in Senatobia and spent about 30 minutes visiting with my grandmother. She was in a wonderful mood last night and it made the visit a good one. We then went to have dinner at one of the Mexican places their in town. We ended up back at my mom's house to watch Momma Mia, which I had not seen. We had our own Spa while we watched the movies. Usually I am the one who has to do everyone's pedicures and stuff but since I am pregnant and not able to sit around on the floor for long periods of time right now, my sister ended up being the one to do this for me and my mom last night. It was really nice and I truly appreciate her doing it, you are awesome Elizabeth!! We had some cobbler and ice cream for dessert and just enjoyed getting to be together. I think Matthew particularly enjoyed his night out with the girls. He had the undivided attention of all three of us. I am sure he was thinking to himself that he could handle this all the time and there was no need to go home to those 3 brothers!! He truly is the best baby ever. He hardly cries and he is so easy to please. I am praying that God will give me one that good!

Well that is what is going on with the Mayos. I hope all you have a great weekend!

Can it just be winter already!

I am normally not a big complainer and I typically see that glass as half full but I am so stinking tired of the weather we are having! I feel like I have been sick continuously for the past 4 months, and yes that would be the duration of my pregnancy to date. I am constantly sneezing and sniffling. The reason why would be the constant up and down weather we are having! Today's forecast for my area might as well be technically termed, YUCK! It is rainy and cold, by the way that was yesterday's forecast as well. But, hold on, for those of you who just do not like the cold you will love Thursday and Friday because we are going sky rocket by into the 60's. This will mean that by Saturday morning I will have another scratching throat and headache. I am so ready for some freezing temps that will be here for a 2-3 week period! Maybe then we could finally kill off all the nasty cold germs that are floating around. I am ready for snow, and dare I say it, even some ice! Come on old man winter, send us some seasonal weather!

P.S. Please note that I am having an extremely stressful week at work, and it is only Tuesday. Also I am pregnant, so most of my thoughts at this point in time are crazy and irrational, so I cannot be held responsible for the silly rant that this post is!
