Another post, that makes 3 in one day!!!

Well I do not know how I have managed to get 3 blog post in one day! It has been a pretty rough day today on the medicine. I have stayed home tonight in order to rest. I hate to cancel on my kids but did not feel up to minding 25-39 3rd-6th graders for an hour and a half tonight! I am starting to feel pretty normal again now. However, J.C. has decided to really let me have it tonight! He is kicking or turning or flipping or something, but it is a massive amount of movement and it really kinda hurts at times today! I am thankful every time I feel him move because it reassures me that he is good and reminds me of just what a miracle it is that God has allowed me to carry him. I do long to hold him on the outside though rather than just feel him kicking me! Ww are on the final stretch now and I know that time will pass more quickly than I realize. I am sure that on the morning of May 26 as Jim and I are heading to the hospital I will be in absolute disbelief that the day has actually arrived and that I will soon have a baby to hold.

I feel such incredible thankfulness to God right now that we have found a medication that is working to bring my sugar down, although maybe a bit too much last night. I have wanted so badly not to have to take insulin injections and that has been my prayer all along. I was prepared when we went to the doctor yesterday to be told that I was going to have to take shots but God is just so good and allowed us another way. I think that this new medicine may mean a bit of adjustment for me maybe by adding back in a few more carbs then I had become accustom to just because it seems to be much more effective in lowering the sugar.

So enough about all that and now on to some fun stuff!! I went and picked up the shirts that I had screen printed for Drew and J.C. along with some onesies that we had embroidered for J.C. I won't go into explaining them all, you can just check out the pics below!

Fun with the new camera and clothes for the boys

Well as most of you know we went to Nashville this past weekend, well Jim and I did. While we were there I purchased another outfit for J.C. and a shirt for Drew. We will be attending a wedding for my cousin on May 31, yes I know that is 5 days after his scheduled birth. I wanted him to have something nice for the wedding so we found this at Carters:

I love the hat with it, and he will need something on his head even though it will be a warm day I am sure but after all he will be a tiny little new thing. It also says Mommy Loves Me on the overalls and the hat, so that makes it a winner to me!!

Now this one is the outfit we had bought a while back for him to wear home from the hospital. We have contemplated returning it and letting the outfit we bought this weekend be both the coming home outfit and the wedding outfit but I cannot decide. I like them both but we certainly do not need them both as this kid has more clothes than the Queen of England!! So I want ya'll to help me decide. Comment on this post and let me know what you would do! PLEASE!!!

This is the shirt we got for Drew. It was on sale for $5! I thought that was a really good deal. He is going to wear this to the hospital on the day J.C. is born. We have another shirt that I am having screen printed that will say "I'm the Big Brother" and one for J.C. that will say "I'm the Little Brother". Those I want to have their pic made in.

And here is the big brother himself! Can you tell that I like my new camera and just looking for things to photograph!!

Specialist Visit and 4D Ultrasound

Well we saw the Maternal Fetal Specialist yesterday. The visit went great. We had the ultrasound done first which ended up taking over an hour because J.C. was very uncooperative. They ended up getting a weight on him of 3.5lbs but said that is not a good estimate because they could not get good measurements on his head or stomach. He looks great and they said he is just as he should be right now. He passed all the practice breathing test and what not with flying colors. As you can see from the pics we had a hard time getting ones of his face. He had his hands and feet all up in front of his face and he was playing with his toes. It was all very cute, but a little disappointing that he would not let us see too much of his face. The specialist changed my medication for my blood sugar to something new. So far not sooo good. It brought my over night sugars down but too far down as we were up in the middle of the night last night having to get me peanut butter to eat and milk to drink. So it was not the best night but I am contacting the dr this morning about adjusting the dosage. We are incredibly thankful that the medicine is working and I should not have to be on insulin injections. God is good!! So that is all the update for now and enjoy the new pics. I will have another ultrasound next week with my regular ob office but it will not be 4D, but fun just the same!

Here is the hand and foot, right in front of his face! He was playing with his foot by grasping his toes!

Another shot of that foot! He seems to be fascinated with his feet.

First shot of his face. The cloudyness around it is the cord which is right in front of his mouth. Also his mouth is open in this one from yawning. He was very tired of the ultrasound tech!

The best one! Finally let us see most of his face. Still has a good bit of cloudyness from the cord, but isn't the clarity of these 4D images awesome!!

New Camera

The new camera arrived at Walmart on Friday, about 10 minutes after I left work for the day! So it did not make the trip to Nashville but here is a shot I got tonight on the way to the soccer game. I have others but it is now 10pm and time for bed. I will blog again later this week. We have 2 more games so maybe I will get some more good material!

Nashville Trip Day 2, Blog #2

Well it is now Sunday morning. We will soon be getting ready to go home. Jim is getting his shower now and I am sitting in the bed blogging! We decided last night to sleep in separate beds, weird but much more comfortable. We felt like we were in one of the old tv shows where the couples had separate beds! I did sleep better than I did the night before but man will my bed feel good tonight!

Yesterday was a full day of drumming. We both really enjoyed the drum show. Jim is now in the mood to write music for his drummers. It was amazing to see some of the talent out there. These kids wanted to be doing what they were doing, it makes such a difference when they have that sort of dedication. My only gripe is that so many groups have the terribly dark shows! I know that my opinion matters 0% to the people who judge this stuff but it really isn't that great to me! They do this with our marching band shows too. Everything has to be so theatrical now and be what they call a "concept show". What ever happened to just playing some good music that people want to groove to. Many of the shows were ultimately about death and destruction and don't even get me started on the ones that would take a portion of the scripture and turn it into a complete misrepresentation of God's word! I just don't understand the thought process behind the shows, but I did greatly enjoy it. My back end was killing me from sitting in those arena seats. They did have backs on them, thank goodness!

Well after the show we headed off to dinner at my absolute favorite place on earth, The Olive Garden! YUMMY! We had a wonderful dinner and a really great waiter, that makes all the difference. We then started to head over to the local mall by the restaurant but felt like we were a little bit in the hood so we opted just for the Target. I love Target. We walked around there for a while and found a few things to buy. It was a really nice evening. From there we just headed on back to the hotel and got ready for bed. We had our Olive Garden leftovers that we munched on just before going to sleep.

So this morning we are planning on breakfast at the Cracker Barrel and running back in the Opry Mills mall to the Bass Pro shop. Jim had found some shoes he liked on Friday night and he wants to go back and get them. I am going to look for some too, they had some really good looking shoes, who would have thought at Bass Pro shop! I am hoping by the time we get done eating breakfast the entire mall will be open and we can give it a good walk through before we hit the road, I will need the bit of exercise before being cooped up in the car for a while.

I hope all of you are having a beautiful and great Sunday morning!

Nashville Trip, Blog #1

Well we arrived in Nashville yesterday afternoon about 5:00pm. It was a trip not without it's adventures! We almost got hit on the interstate and encountered several instances of idiot drivers. We decided that the term "Memphis Driver" apparently does not apply to the city of Memphis alone but to the entire state of Tennessee! We managed to get here with me only having to stop for the bathroom twice! The second time we were only 13 miles outside of Nashville, I was not going to make it another mile though! We decided to stop for coffee at the Sonic after we had stopped at the bathroom. We had a very interested carhop. Well first of all this particular Sonic was one that the carhops have to wear the roller skates, that always kinda weirds me a out a bit anyway. Everything was good until the carhop started talking to us as the order was delivered. We thought this was a girl carhop but as the person spoke we realized something just did not seem quite right! So after he/she had left we saw he/she come out of the door again to take another order and I could see plainly that this person had a VERY prominent adams apple! So I was like that is a guy dressed as a girl with make up and the whole nine yards and wearing roller skates! WOW! Different, to say the least! So we left from this area to get back on the interstate. This town in general was interesting because every road we came to would only let you take right turns! So we had an interesting time trying to get back to the interstate and decided that this was the land of right turns only!

So we made it on to Nashville with no problem. Got to our hotel. We are not terribly impressed. First of all anytime that Jim and I stay in a hotel we usually get one with a king bed, that is what we are used to sleeping on at home. Well this one has two doubles, that is a small bed! I was almost tempted to just sleep in my own bed and let Jim have the other one! The beds are comfortable and they have all the newer clean sheets and bedding, no nasty hotel bed spreads, but that is just small! But we will survive. The hotel was free because we had listened to a time share thing last summer, this was our incentive from that.

Well now on to some good stuff. Last night we went to the Opry Mills Mall and did some shopping and dinner. We had a wonderful time. We ate at the Rain Forest Cafe. The food was awesome and I did so much walking that nothing bothered my sugar at all! We made a couple of purchases for the boys and I got a pair of maternity pants at the Motherhood outlet store. We had a good time. Of course we went to the incredibly huge Bass Pro Shop there, that was fun. I may not be an outdoors girl but I really like that store. It was a really nice evening. We were wiped out when we got back to the room. The walking really takes it out of me now.

Today we will be going to a percussion show somewhere here in Nashville. It is going to be fun. SBEC will have a group performing in it. We will be there most of the day. We plan to eat tonight at the Olive Garden, my favorite! If it is an early enough night after that I am sure we will find something else to go do. I haven't taken any pics yet but I am sure I will at the drum show and we will see what we can get today. We are having a great time! Hope your weekend is starting off good to. It is beautiful outside the window this morning and it makes me extra thankful that God has blessed us with a beautiful weekend for our trip.

Dishwashers, Dogs, and Downright Tired!

Well there have been many things going on in the Mayo household in the past week. I guess I will start with the first part of my title, dishwashers. Last Thursday night our dishwasher died. We knew that it was on it's last leg. It was the original dishwasher that was in the house at construction. So it was almost 9 years old. So knowing that I was going to be out of town for the weekend I decided to make a stop at a local appliance discount store and see what I could find. I did find a nice one there that had a small dent on the front and therefore was marked down really low. So I made lots of notes and came home and told Jim all about it and gave him instructions to go to Home Depot and Lowes on Saturday and to comparative pricing. He did that and found that the best deal was the one at the discount store. So he bought it and now we have a new dishwasher. It works very well. It is not fancy but it is a good quality one. I feel that we bought wisely.

Now on to title part 2, Dogs. Well we are dogsitting this week while some friends are on vacation for spring break. We have 2 mini schnauzers staying with us. One of these dogs actually used to be ours, Bailey. We moved into an apartment when Drew was 6 months old and she did not make the transition from house living to apartment living so we gave her to these friends from church. Of course to watch her with Jim you would never know that she left our house! She loves him and follows him around like a shadow. So it has been an interesting experience having 2 dogs in the house. I really want a dog but then I see the tracked in grass on the floor and I don't want to deal with it! I imagine that we will wait another year or 2 before we get another dog. Drew wants one badly and will probably be very sad when these 2 leave but I just don't think I can deal with a dog and baby at this point. Also on the dog end of things, one of my mom's dogs died on Saturday night. She was very old but absolutely the best dog ever. It was very sad to hear that she was gone, it will be very different going to mom's and her not being there. She still has Holly, the yorkie. Holly is rather lost without her companion so I expect they will end up getting another dog before long. It is hard for anyone to understand the attachment to a family pet unless you are someone who has a dog or cat that is such a part of your family. They truly do become part of the family and it is hard to let them go.

Now for title part 3, Downright Tired! I spent the weekend in Tupelo with my mom, sister, and aunt. We went to the flea market there. We left on Friday afternoon and went out to dinner at the Olive Garden, one of my favs! We shopped until almost 11pm at Kohls and stayed up late together like a group of teenagers! We went to the flea market on Saturday morning at 9am and other than leaving for lunch we walked the place until after 4pm! I was exhausted! I kept taking little breaks but by the end of the day I was just totally wiped and done. We all had such a fun time. It was worth the fatigue to have such a great time out with my family. If you have never been to the flea market there in Tupelo I would highly recommend going. It is a neat experience and you can purchase some great things. Flea Markets are not all junk places. Hopefully we will be able to do this again some time after the baby comes. Jim is always great about letting me go and being home with Drew, I am sure he will be willing to do it with both boys and let me have this special ladies time.

Of course this week is Spring Break for the school kids and teachers. So that means I am going to work everyday while Jim and Drew get to stay at home. That always kinda bums me out a bit. They are getting so much done around the house and yard though. My flower beds have been weeded and the grass has been mowed. He is trying to keep the house pretty clean each day but with the dogs being here that has been difficult. He is vacuuming each day and keeping it from getting too bad. This weekend he and I will be going to Nashville for a weekend getaway for the two of us. We are excited and looking forward to the time away and just with each other. I am sure I will have some pics and lots to tell you about that next week. Well that is all for now!

Birthday Pics and J.C.'s New Ride!

Well here are the promised birthday pics!
Birthday Cookie, I made it and decorated it myself! Thought I did a pretty good job!

Birthday Coloring table

5yr Old Birthday Boy with his Speed Racer Mask!

Baby Matthew wasn't quite as into the mask as his cousin!

J.C.'s "New to Us" Travel System

Carseat

Stroller

I had to try it out and Mickey seemed about the right size! Can you tell I am anxious??

Here is the story behind the Travel System. It was given to us by my sister's sister-in-law. It was barely even used! It is so incredibly nice and we are so thankful for it!It is gorgeous, the pics do not do it justice. This family has given us so much stuff. I cannot tell them thank you enough! We also have the Graco Carseat/Stroller frame thing that you just snap the infant carrier down onto and it makes a small compact stroller as opposed to the big travel system stroller. This was also given to us to borrow by some dear friends! Thank you McNeils!! We plan to use it a good bit when he is brand new for going to church and what not. I am sure we will use the big one often as well. We plan to go to the zoo and take walks and all that good stuff. Of course the big one will be good when he is able to sit up and we don't have to worry about the infant carrier being attached anymore. As you can see we just about have it all, just need the baby! As I said with the pics, I am getting anxious! It will be here soon.

As a side note. I know some of the pics are not that great. We have been dealing with some major camera issues. I have been very unhappy with my camera for some time now. So we are now awaiting the arrival of our new camera. It will hopefully arrive at Walmart next week before we go to Nashville. I am switching to a different brand, so I am hoping for crisp, clear, vibrant pics! We will see!

A Quick Pregnancy Update

Forgot to put this in the last post. Things are rolling right along with J.C. I have to say that I am now feeling him move around more often than not. Jim and Drew have now gotten to feel him kicking. Jim has on several occasions now. With Drew it is hard to get him to sit still long enough to wait on the movement. My blood sugars remain good. I will see the doctor again next week and then will begin going on a weekly basis. I should be starting to have more routine ultrasounds in about 3 weeks. That is to make sure he is developing as he should since with Gestational Diabetes their is the risk of early labor. I know it will be fun to see him in there several more times before his arrival. He is VERY active, so much that he would hardly be still long enough for the doctor to hear his heart beat good last week at our visit. I am not sure what he is going to do when his world starts getting really cramped, probably make his mom miserable for a while. I am glad for all the movement though, it is comforting to feel him in there. You may have noticed the countdown on my ticker kinda jumped to a lower number last week. That is because I reformatted it to reflect the tentative C-Section date of May 26 rather than my actual due date of June 3. I will have a definite date at the first of May, so I will adjust it again if necessary. Please keep us in your prayers as we move forward. We are down to 11 weeks if he comes on May 26th! It is getting closer!

Need to Catch Up

I should have gotten to the blog this weekend, but did not. I will take my usual excuse of late, PREGNANCY! It was a very busy weekend. We had Drew's party on Saturday. It was a great party. He and all his friends had a good time. It was a low key kind of party. We just had some simple appetizer type foods and the kids had coloring pages and play dough to keep them busy. The adults got to sit around and visit, it was nice and relaxing! He got many wonderful gifts, we are so thankful for the outpouring of love on him. He has been having so much fun playing with all of his new things.

Saturday night Jim had a Wild Game dinner at the church. I ended up keeping another little boy from church so his dad could go to the dinner while mom was at work. The boys had so much fun together. I know Drew was completely worn out by the time Jim got home and it was bed time. Of course Saturday night was also Daylight Savings Spring Forward time. YUCK! I have never felt that the time change has kicked me in the tail as much as this year. Just today I am finally feeling normal again. I sorely missed that hour of sleep! Sunday morning found us all dragging out the door to church.

I had a huge surprise in my Sunday School class on Sunday. The kids in my class with the help and organization of my assistant teacher and his wife, planned me a surprise baby shower! I was completely shocked! It was so sweet of them. They had a cake and ice cream and gifts for J.C. as well as one for Drew. It was such a blessing. I love my kids and we have such fun together. I am going to miss them when I take time off this summer. They are wonderful kids and can be so sweet and caring. Also the sweet couple that organized it I cannot say thank you to enough. They are so precious to Jim and I and our family. They are truly great friends to have and would do anything for you. We are blessed to know them and are better because of them.

So that is all the goings on for now. I will try to post pics soon of the party and the surprise shower. Of course we have been playing soccer too and I have not yet gotten pics of that. I am waiting on a warm day when we don't have on extra clothes with the uniform.

More Birthday Fun!

Here are the snow pics as well as Drew's Birthday Lunch at Casa Mexicana. They sang to him and put the hat on him. He was most excited about the so papilla, he loves those things! He has had a really good day so far!

Jim beginning the work on the snowman.

The finished product!

Drew after the birthday thing at Casa. He was a little apprehensive but he made it okay, no tears! He was great once he started eating the dessert!

Drew promptly removed the hat and had daddy put it on!

We are now home chilling out for the afternoon. We will not have services tonight at church, so there could be more picture and video mayhem to follow! Right now we are watching Nascar, Drew and I are cheering for our driver, Kyle Busch!!!!

Happy 5th Birthday Drew!!!!

It is so hard for me to believe that it has been 5 years since my precious little boy came to be part of our world. He is the ultimate blessing in our lives, aside from salvation. This year he got a special treat for his birthday, SNOW!!! Lots of it, maybe 3-4 inches! They are outside right now making a snowman and mom is inside where it is warm!! He has been super silly this morning and we were able to video him doing his birthday dance! Ya'll enjoy! I will have snow pictures posted soon!
