Standing!

Well he can do it now! He can stand up by pulling up! Here is the proof...

This evening he also pulled himself up by holding onto the couch. He is soon going to be walking, I just cannot believe that we are already to this point in his life. Drew was 16 months old when he really started walking. Everything is happening so much more quickly with JC and it is so bittersweet. I am so excited about all the milestones and yet so sad to see him advancing so fast. He is just about to cut his third tooth. It is the front right tooth on the top. It seems to be giving him more trouble than the other two did. He has been rather irritable the last two days. Of course irritable for him really is not that bad, just wanting to be held more than usual.

Drew had his second ball game this last week. He also had pictures this morning. I did not go to the game this week because of another commitment but Jim took some great pics of him!

He did really good again! He really seems to be enjoying baseball. He is doing really well at it to. He will have to develop more strength in his throwing and hitting but that will come with practice and growth. He is small for his age. We went yesterday to Walmart and got him a batting helmet. Here he is showing it off!

First Tooth

Well Drew has had a loose tooth for a while now and this morning it finally came out! He called me to come and look at it and I saw that it was surrounded by blood and kinda crooked so I began moving it back and forth. After doing that about 4 times it came right out! I kept expecting him to say that it hurt or cry but he never moved. So now he will officially be a member of the "Snaggletooth Club" at school! I have not gotten used to looking at him yet and seeing that empty spot. Of course it feels really different to him now. He is just growing up so much!

We have had a very good Saturday, although very busy. We cleaned the entire house, and boy did it need it! We also have washed all the bedding in addition to all our clothing which has amounted to at least 10 loads just today! We went to Walmart this afternoon, all four of us. I have to say it was probably the most uneventful trip to Walmart that we have made as a family of four. We were in and out of there in less than an hour, that has to be a record or something! We came home to prepare dinner. Jim actually grilled out some chicken tonight and it was awesome, thanks honey!! After dinner we went outside to play with the boys a little bit. Jim had gotten the big car seat down from the attic today so I decided to put JC in it and adjust the straps. As you can see he really liked it. I think he is very ready to begin facing forwards in the car. We only have a month left and he will be a year old!

I can remember when we first put Drew in this car seat and he looked so tiny in it, not this one though! He fills it out quite nicely already!!
We did not get to play outside too long tonight. It was close to dark and it is actually kinda cool tonight. Drew played in his lightening car and JC watched from his stroller.

We are all pretty tired and are working towards bedtime real soon!

One last pic to share though, this is one of JC's favorite things to do now...

playing with the LeapFrog Alphabet Magnets! This is something I did not get until Drew was about 3. JC loves them though, so I am thinking that another set of refrigerator magnets may be a good birthday present for him!

I hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend! That's all for now!

Bubbly Baby and Baseball!

Well, Jim and the boys survived my absences over the last week. It was a wonderful time at both our church's Ladies Retreat and the Annual Spring Conference for MS Baptist Ministry Assistants. Although I greatly missed my boys it was very nice to have some time just for me.

I arrived home last night at about 6:15 and we reported to the baseball field for Drew's first game at 7pm! It went really good. He made two hits without using a batting tee. He also caught several grounders and made throws to first. His throwing needs a lot more force behind it but that will come with growth and strength. It really was a good first experience and he had a great time! I am actually looking forward to next Tuesday when we will play again.
Drew is #4

Drew on 3rd base after batting.

JC continues to grow so fast! Here are some shots that I got of him on Sunday evening!
This was right after he had finished his "night night" cup, gotta love that belly!

I was trying to get a pic of his really big smile but did not quite get it, but this was still really good!

Whats been going on.

Well it has been another busy weekend here in the Mayo household. I spent Friday and Saturday at our annual Ladies Retreat. It really was a wonderful time at a wonderful and beautiful place. To those ladies, you know who you are, that made it such a special weekend I am so thankful. It is always nice to have a little time away from home and especially with a group of women that want to worship the Lord together. I am actually leaving again in the morning to be at a conference for church ministry assistants outside of Jackson, MS. I am looking forward to this event as well but am anxious over leaving all my boys. Jim will do a great job of handling things around here I just hate that I spent most of the weekend away and will now be gone again. I will get home on Tuesday afternoon just in time for Drew's first baseball game!!'

Speaking of Drew, he has been having some really good days lately! We have been having some behavior issues with him at school. I think that it has been due to him being bored for one thing and being in a small group at school with some other rather rambunctious boys. Drew is a follower and wants others to like him. This seems to cause him some problems at times. But I am happy to say that for the entire month of April thus far he has kept his race car on track at school. He has been very excited about doing so well. I have to say that it has been a very frustrating time for Jim and I. We truly have felt that there is nothing else we could do to correct Drew's behavior. It has been a situation that we have just had to give all the way over to God's control. That is really hard for me. I am a fixer and I want to just put the pieces together and make it right. It has been a good thing over all because it has helped both Jim and I to walk closer to the Lord through it. I just love my sweet, sensitive little man! He has started doing something really sweet, he will tell me he has a secret to tell me and when I get really close to his face he will make kissing sounds, not actually kissing me, but it is so sweet! He is my sweet, lovey boy! He actually keeps telling his daddy that he is going to marry me and that he needs to get a new wife! HA!! I will have to keep those memories locked inside for the days when he is a teenager and tells me things like I am ruining his life and that he hates me.

Now for some stuff on JC. He is just growing more and more each day. As you can see from the pic above he is beginning to try to stand up on his own. He is on his knees there but he will soon be pulling all the way up to his feet. He has developed this new soooo cute smile! He grins so big that his entire face is all squished up and you can see those two little teeth in there! I have not been able to get a pic of it just yet but I will. Of course he continues to eat VERY well! He has not found a food he does not like yet! He has started making kissing sounds. We are trying to get him to use his hand to blow the kisses but he has not gotten that yet. He will say bye but typically waits until the person you want him to say it to is gone and then he does it! He is crawling everywhere and is getting to be very fast. He actually has started getting into things a good bit. He is an explorer! Drew was never bad about trying to get in cabinets and grab cords and stuff. We are going to have to be very vigilant to watch this little sneeker!

In this video they are both playing with their bouncy balls. JC got one for Easter from my aunt and Drew has been trying to play with it since we got home with it! So I had Jim take him to the store and he bought one with his allowance money. He kept trying to dribble it, apparently they do that at school. I don't think we have to worry that we have the next Michael Jordan on our hands, but he had a lot of fun playing with it!!

Easter Recap

We had a wonderful Easter weekend. It went by so quickly but we were able to spend time with both of our families. No real stories or events to talk about at the moment. Drew did catch a good sized catfish at my parents house yesterday and you will see pictures of it on this post. There are no pictures of JC because he slept through the egg hunt at both family gatherings! We did take a picture of all of us in our Easter apparel at church but they were taken with a friend's camera and I will have to wait for her to send them to me (hint, hint, Steph!).

Here you go...
