Today JC is 11 weeks old on the 11th of August! He is getting bigger all the time. He gets more and more active everyday and likes to smile and laugh and coo at us. He is in his second week of going to daycare. He has done great with this, no problems at all. They all seem to love him there and think he is a great and sweet baby. Here is a video I shot of him last night after bath time.

First Day Down!
Well the first day is over and it seemed to go great! I only waited in the car rider line for about 20 minutes, those were definitely a hot 20 minutes!! He was in a great mood when I got him but very tired! He managed to be silly for a picture, imagine that!
He had his first "homework" assignment tonight. He had a white paper sack that he had to decorate, he drew cars all over it! After decorating the bag they had to put some small items in it that are some of their favorite things. He decided to put several varieties of his cars, his soccer medal, a plastic bug and a picture of he and JC. The one that I am placing below is the one we are taking. And before you say awww, how sweet, he did not think of this on his own, it was mom's idea! All he wanted to put in the bag was more and more race cars! Oh well!
So for Drew's education we have 1 day down and about 17 more years to go!

First Day of Kindergarten
Well here we are outside the school this morning. He was very excited and did so good, mom did not do so well! I was crying last night before we went to bed, woke up with a migraine, and cried the whole way to Hernando! I am feeling better now and he was ready to stay and excited about his knew school.
He wanted me to take one of the new back pack.
And that about sums up the morning. I will post more later on about how the first day went.For now that is what is going on with the Mayos!

Catching Up
Well I had every intention of posting to the blog last week and just never got the time to do it. It was an incredibly busy week! Jim had something at work on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday night so I was doing the mom and dad roles on those nights. Friday we had friends over, Saturday we went out and today I hosted a baby shower at the house. So I am exhausted and ready for bed but highly emotional in anticipation of dropping Drew off for his first day of kindergarten tomorrow! But before I get weepy again I will catch you up on the week behind us.
Last Monday was JC's first day at Daycare.
I really did good with this. I did not cry until I had left him and managed to pull it together before I even got to the office. He had an incredibly good week and I am so pleased with the place that he is staying. They told me everyday as I picked him up just how good of a baby he is. We do realize that we are incredibly blessed to have such an easy baby. We have actually had 2 incredibly easy babies. We certainly do not deserve it but are so thankful for it. Back to Monday, after I dropped him off and regained my composure I had such an incredible peace. It has just started raining lightly and it was still very sunny out. Just as I got parked and ready to get out of my car I looked up and saw a rainbow. It gave me chills, it was like God telling me that it was all okay and that He is there with JC each day just as He is with me.
Thursday was a special day for me and Drew. I took the day off of work to spend some time with him and to take him to the open house for school to meet his teacher. We ended up taking my nephew Ben along with us for the fun stuff! We went and ate lunch at Chick-Fil-A and the boys played for a little while. Then we went to the movies to see G-Force in 3D. It was fun and a cute movie. Drew has not gotten to see very many movies in the theater so it is always a very special treat when we do. Here are some shots of Ben and Drew in their 3D glasses.

After the movie we took Ben home and then went to meet the teacher. We will be in Mrs. Jo Nicholson's class. She is actually a member at The Point where I work so I am excited to have that connection with her. Of course Drew would not talk to her and completely clammed up while we were there! I know it will only take him a few days to warm up. I will not go on and on about it here because I plan to post a whole post on the first day and week of school.
And now I have one last pic to share! This is JC in his outfit he wore to church this morning!
I absolutely love this outfit! It was one that Elizabeth gave me to use that she had bought for Matthew. He was so happy after I had dressed him and when I put the hat on his head he laughed out loud! That is the first real laugh that he has done! I think he looked adorable in it. We have a wedding to go to this coming Friday and I think we will be wearing this outfit again for that!

2 Month Doctor Checkup
Yesterday JC had his 2 month check up with the doctor. Here are the stats:
13lbs 5 oz (85 percentile)
23 inches long (50 percentile)
15.75 inch head circumference (50 percentile)
He got 3 shots and 1 oral vaccine. He did really good getting all of that done. He did not really run any fever but slept most of the day away and has pretty much done the same today as well. He seems to be having a little tummy reaction to all those shots, but other than that it has been no real big deal.
It is a rather difficult day for me as tomorrow I will be taking him to daycare for the first time. Also I will begin my new work schedule, 7:30-2:30 Mon-Fri. I am very excited about getting off work earlier but am anxious about the getting up so much earlier in the morning. It is going to be interesting to see how we adjust. Drew only has this last week and then he will begin kindergarten. This week is extremely busy with band stuff and church stuff. The busy schedule for the week is not helping with all the emotions I am feeling! I know that God will be my strength through it all. I ask for your prayers as we spend the next several weeks making major adjustments to our daily routines.

Just a few fun and silly things
Well here is a short video of JC playing on the floor this morning. He is getting very active now. I am anxious about Monday and leaving him at the daycare for the first time. I am completely at peace about the place we are leaving him, just sad that the time has passed so quickly. It is going to be a rough time in the Mayo house for the next few weeks. Drew will start school on 8/10, that I think is going to be harder than daycare! We are in full swing of "band season". Jim will be out of the house a good bit and I will be on my own more than I am really ready for. But God will be my strength. Today we spent our last day home all together by going to the Aquatic Center in Tunica with my mom. We had a great time. JC loved being in the water. Mom sat and held him most of the time in the really shallow part of the kiddie pool. It is a really nice facility and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for some indoor water fun!
I have a couple of really cute stories to share! The first one is a Drew story. About a week ago Drew decided he wanted to try some of my diet Mountain Dew with dinner. So far he really likes Coke, Dr. Pepper, and now Mountain Dew. So as we were eating Drew ask where Mountain Dew comes from. I think at first I told him Wal-Mart, since that is where I bought it. Then he concocted this story about how Mountain Dew comes from the top of mountains. Jim decided to get in on the story and told him that there is an old man on the mountain that brings the dew down and that is how we get Mountain Dew and the old man's name is Cleatis! Totally crazy!!! Apparently it has stuck because we have been discussing vacation options for next year and talked about going to the mountains. He told us he wants to go to the mountains so that he can go up on the mountain and bring down the Mountain Dew! That will be a good one to tell him about later in life!
The next story is a JC story. I am very happy to say that in the 9 weeks that JC has been with us I have not gotten majorly spit up on and messed on or anything gross like that. Well that all changed today. I was giving him a bath just a while ago. He really likes bath time and he has been really sleepy today since our swimming excursion so he was really just kinda chilling in the bathtub. I was done bathing him and just rinsing his hair of the shampoo. Jim was standing there talking to him about how relaxed he was in the bathtub and all of a sudden he starting peeing! And the fountain of pee hit me right on the front of my shirt! Not how I really wanted to end my day! And to top it all off, after he did it he broke out with a huge smile as if he knew exactly what he had done and found it to be incredibly funny! Needless to say mommy got a bath tonight too!

2 Months Old
JC is 2 months old today. It is really hard for me to believe that 2 months has passed. It truly has gone by quickly. On another blog that I read a mom made her monthly post on her new baby a list of many of the important things in her child's life so I am going to copy her idea!
JC at 2 months old I am not sure of your exact length and weight because we have not been back to the dr. We will do that this Saturday and I will post that info then. But here is a list of several other important facts about you at 2 months:
1. You have slept through the night for the last 4 nights! Last bottle of the night has been at 9pm and you have not gotten up again to eat until 5 am!!
2. You wear 3-6 month clothing. Some of it is very roomy but there is no getting you back in the 0-3 month clothes!
3. You wear size 2 diapers.
4. You take 6 oz of formula at each feeding.
5. You are still going with mom to work 3 days a week. We only have one more week together before you start going to daycare and mom starts working full time again. :-(
6. You love being in the bouncy seat and have started to like swinging more and more.
7. Fortunately you no longer care for the boppy pillow because your brother likes to use it to watch Saturday morning cartoons!
8. You are beginning to really like bath time, even when your brother helps!
9. You are still an incredibly good baby who rarely cries except when you are hungry, although you have become a bit spoiled and do like to be held. You also like to have your mama in your line of vision most of the time when you are awake, and I love it!!
10. You are starting to talk to us a good bit and get more and more active everyday!
