Something Special

I realized when I was editing pictures today that I have two similar pics of the boys. So I thought I would do a post of some old pics of Drew next to some new ones of JC. I thought it would be neat to see them next to each other and how they differ and favor each other. So here it goes:

Birthday Party Post

Well, I know some are probably wondering why on earth I have not gotten this stuff posted before now. The answer to that is that this is the first time I have actually sat down long enough to do it since th party! We had JC's party on Friday night and it was an absolute joy and success! Of course it was rather late by the time we got home and settled, so not posting on Friday night! Saturday morning I left home early to shop a few yard sales and to go to Wal-Mart for our monthly shopping. That took most of the morning and when I did get home it was time to get cleaned up and ready to attend a wedding in Oxford, MS. Our pastor's daughter got married yesterday. I traveled down with some other friend's for the wedding and Jim stayed home with the boys. The couple I rode with was actually taking pictures for the wedding, so we had to leave rather early, 2pm to be exact. The wedding started at 6pm. So it was 9:30 before we left to come home from the reception. It was really so much fun! They had the reception at a really neat place in Oxford, The Power House. There was great food and dancing. My friend and I even did a little dancing! I wish Jim had been there to turn me around the floor a few time! HA, now that should have you all laughing!!!! Today we only had morning services since it is Memorial Day weekend. We have spent the afternoon over at a friend's house, swimming and grilling out! It has been a wonderful day and now we are all kinda wiped out! But tomorrow we get to sleep in so no worries!

So following will be the pics from all the birthday celebration. The beginning of the pics is from his actual birthday, Wednesday. We had some friends over that night for supper and they brought him the push/ride on toy. It was their girls which are all too big for it now. He loved it and immediately starting walking around the living room pushing it! Then you will see the pics from the party and lastly a few from today over at our friend's house from swimming. Enjoy all the pics!

A Year Gone By

It is so hard to believe, but it is actually here! JC is turning 1 tomorrow. Wow! It has gone by so quickly. I am going to give some stats of where he is right now and then put on a slide show that I have put together of some of our favorite pics from the last year.

First, he has an ear infection. Not really the way I wanted to celebrate his birthday but that is okay. He went to the doctor today and got some meds so he will be better soon. We are having his party on Friday, so that gives a few more days for him to get better. As of his doctor appointment today he weighs 24lbs!!! He is a big and hardy little boy. Actually when he is sick like now is really the only time he does not like to eat. He drinks regular whole milk exclusively now. He eats all table food, with the exception of yogurt bites. He loves those things and they are great for keeping in the diaper bag. He is crawling everywhere and getting into all kinds of things. He favorite thing to get into lately has been his garbage can in his room, and he can take the lid off of it! You will see a pic of that in the slide show. He is pulling up on anything he can get his hands on and coasting around on all the furniture. He will walk as you hold his hands but it is rather stiff right now so I would say we have just a short while longer before he will seriously be walking everywhere! His favorite thing to play with is the bouncy balls that he and Drew both have. He is still a very good baby, but a little bit spoiled at times. Overall we have been incredibly blessed with both our boys. He may be a little bit mischievous but he is a sweet boy, oh and he has started blowing kisses but will rarely do it when you want him too!

There will be many more pics to come as we celebrate his birthday with family and friends!!

This and That

I think today I will just start with pictures and move forward from there.

This picture was not staged! We seriously found them like this in the living room this week. I have to be honest with you, Drew had it coming! He loves to aggravate his brother and JC is probably going to be bigger than him in just a few short years! And JC is kinda a bully. So as he grows bigger and bigger things may get really interesting for the big brother!

Also this week, JC discovered the drum set! The boys take a bath together every night. JC is always first to get out. Jim does the actual bathing part and I get JC all lotioned up and dressed. So by the time I get done with him Drew is usually getting out. JC loves to head off, crawling as fast as he can, to find his brother. He is getting more and more curious about different parts of the house and has now started getting into Drew's room more. Well this week he got in there and for the first time discovered the drum set! He immediately starting trying to play on it with his hands, so we gave him a drum stick! It was so cute! This one will definitely be a drummer I think, Drew we are not so sure about, maybe a trumpet for him!

JC gets pretty rowdy in the car in the mornings. It is a good solid 30min trip each way. This week he started playing with his toes and actually putting them in his mouth! YUCK! But man to be that flexible again!! This was just after we had dropped Drew off at school. Usually he fusses the entire way from the school to the daycare but he realized I was taking his picture so he hammed it up!

This morning after his bath he decided he would do little reading.

After reading he decided to go in pursuit of his brother. In bubba's room he found this ball! Bubba could not be pictured due to the fact that he was naked and jumping on his bed!

This boy loves balls! He will chase them around the house for a long time! He has a smaller one than this that he absolutely loves! My aunt gave it to him for Easter and it has been one of his favorite things!

Well, I finally feel like we can breath a little bit. Most evening now we are all home together, which is soooo nice. All the band stuff is behind us and other than Drew's baseball games we do not have many activities going on throughout the week. Now the weekends are an entirely different story! Today we have a birthday party for my brother-in-law. It is a 40th party and it is going to be a lot of fun, really looking forward to it. Next Saturday is the OB graduation, I have a wedding to attend, and we have a graduation party to attend that evening! Busy day! The next weekend we will be having JC's birthday party, followed by another wedding that Saturday. I am getting to take a couple of days off of work that weekend though, that Friday of the birthday party and that Monday is Memorial Day, so that will make is a bit easier on everyone. It is so hard to believe that we will be celebrating his 1st birthday in just a week and a half! Where has all that time gone!

We are only 4 weeks away from our Beach Vacation!! Thankfully at this point the oil spill seems to be taking a southwestward track away from the Alabama coast line. There is the possibility of oil bubbles coming up, but they will not close the beaches for that. We have been planning this trip for over a year now and would not want it to have to be cancelled. Of course far more important than our vacation plans is the fact that people lost their lives in that explosion.

Well, it is time for me to start getting ready for the birthday party. I am truly committed to writing more often now that things have slowed down. There is so much that happens day to day that has not been getting documented, but that is just life I guess!

Till next time that is all from the Mayos!

Mother's Day

Well here it is, another full week has flown by and I have not had any time to blog!! This was a crazy busy week, even for us! We had 2 band concerts this week, the boys and I did not attend but that meant doing the regular routine here at home alone and that is pretty stressful! We had a band banquet and another ball game. Friday night we did get to be at home, so nice, Jim did some grilling, so we had an awesome dinner. Saturday was completely packed with a graduation and a wedding that evening! Whoa, so today my Mother's Day request was to not have to prepare lunch and to just stay home! And my wish was granted! We picked up McAllister's for lunch. We had originally planned to go out but JC is usually passed out before we get home from church, because he refuses to sleep there, so we decided it would be more enjoyable to just come home and eat here. Lunch was good and the best part was that is all went in the garbage at the end with not dishes to clean up!! Then we laid down and took a LONG nap, sure I will pay for that come bed time! It was nice though and I really needed the down time today. So since 4:30 we have been busy getting things ready for tomorrow and the week ahead, doing laundry, and putting some things in the attic which turned into a garage straightening up project because I found several unsightly messes that Jim had left out there!! So now I am blogging and after this plan to spend some time doing some Bible reading and beginning to look at my Sunday School lesson for next week. It has really been a good Mother's Day!

Friday I went to Drew's school for "Muffins with Moms" event. It was really nice. Here are some pics...

They sang a couple of songs for us and I got the second one on video, here it is...

Yesterday we attended a graduation for the son of some very good friends. It was a home school graduation for the Memphis Home Educators Association. It was such a nice ceremony and the boys were really very good for it. The young man we went to see graduate has done so well. He actually received an appointment to the military academy at West Point. They made a presentation to him at the ceremony and talked about how out of 13,000 applicants they only take 1300 students and he was one of those! He was also one of the Outstanding Students for the graduating class. When we first met these folks he was only about 8 or 9 and we have seen him grown into a smart, handsome, and godly young man! It was truly our privilege to be there yesterday and share in such a special time for their family. As I watched them and the pride and love they had for their son I hope that we will be that supportive and loving to our boys no matter what they accomplish and what they decide to do.

Today at church we had baby dedication. We have been abundantly blessed lately at church with many new babies! Today 6 of those children were dedicated. It is always a blessing to see families committing to raise their children to love the Lord. Today we had a very special dedication for a sweet, precious little girl that was born very early and weighed less than 2lbs at the time. She spent 5 months in the hospital and today was the very first time she attended church. It was indescribably watching them up there on stage with her! I cried happy tears at the miracle that she is and the testimony of seeing with our own eyes how God answers prayer. At this time we have another precious family in our church that is going through an almost identical situation. Their precious daughter is beginning to show great signs of improvement and may be coming home soon. She was born at the end of February. Again God has chosen to answer our prayers in healing this baby girl. Both of these situations have reminded me of just how blessed Jim and I were with both of our pregnancies and births. Our boys were healthy and never had a moments trouble. I know that I take it for granted that God has blessed us in this way.

Well let me share a little bit about JC and his progress since I am talking about babies. He is getting so very active. He crawls everywhere, FAST, and is pulling up to standing on most anything he can get to. He started coasting a little around the couch recently. He has not shown any moves of wanting to try to stand alone or walk, but I do not think it will be long. He is so much braver than Drew ever was, which seems to result in many bumps and bruises! All part of toddling around though, just typing that makes me sad to think that he is moving beyond baby to toddler!! It has really gone by fast and I will stop about all that as I am getting all choked up right now!

Well that is gonna be it from the Mayos tonight. I hope that all our friends out there enjoyed a wonderful Mother's Day and I want to say a special Happy Mother's Day to all those out there that do not have children of their own but are mother's to so many!

Another Baseball Game and a Field Trip to the Farm

Well it has been another busy, crazy week in the Mayo house! Everyone is doing good and right now trying to enjoy the last little bit of our Sunday afternoon. Tonight we are going to my mom's church to see her choir musical. It will be a nice change of pace. So I must do this quickly because I have already spent the bulk of my time building the slideshow! I will say that we played another baseball game Thursday. Memaw came to visit for that game and we really enjoyed having her here but really did not get to spend enough time together. We went on a field trip on Friday to Kidz Kountry in Southaven. I have blogged about it before because we went for a birthday party. It was a terribly windy day, so my good hair day I was having that morning quickly got ruined! After the field trip we took Drew to lunch and then ended up going and buying new cell phones and new cell phone service! All good stuff but the new phones are a bit addictive! That is another blog post to come!! Anyway, we spent a good bit of our weekend in the closet as we had much severe weather all around our area. Thankfully we are unhurt and had no damage but there are many areas close by that experienced destructive flooding and wind damage. So I will close with that for now! I will try to blog a bit more later in the week. Hope ya'll are having a great weekend!
